Mushroom Salisbury Steak

Preparation Time: 6 minutes
Microwaving Time: 14 to 16 minutes

¼ cup cornstarch
2 cups beef broth
1 jar (6 oz) sliced mushrooms, drained
4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 egg, beaten
½ cup soft bread crumbs
1 medium onion, finely chopped
½ to 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
¼ teaspoon pepper, optional
1 ½ pounds ground beef

Combine broth and cornstarch in a large bowl. Stir in mushrooms, basil and Worcestershire sauce. Set the bowl aside. Using a second bowl, combine the bread crumbs, egg, seasoned salt and if desired, the pepper. Crumble the beef into the bread crumb mixture and mix together well. Shape the meat mixture into six oval patties and place into a shallow microwave safe dish. Cover the dish and microwave on high for 6 minutes and drain. While microwave, to help the patties cook evenly, turn them over once and move the ones located in the center of the dish to the outside and vice versa. 

Remove patties from microwave (they will not be fully cooked at this point), and cover them with the beef broth mixture. Return to the microwave covered and cook for another 8 to 10 minutes or until fully cooked. Let stand for 5 minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes.
